Fraud Prevention

Text Alerts

When a fraudulent transaction is suspected, members may receive a text message to confirm the activity is legitimate. The phone number these texts come from is 742926.

TIP: Text messages are becoming a popular method for fraudsters to get personal information. Capitol View and our card processors will NEVER ask you for the 3-digit code on the back of your card. If you ever are suspicious of a text message claiming to relate to your Capitol View accounts, contact us to verify its legitimacy.

Fraud Monitoring

Our fraud monitoring team may call you to verify any unusual or suspected transactions. This may be an automated message or a live person. They will never ask you for sensitive account information or ask you to setup a payment. If you are ever suspicious of a phone call claiming to represent the credit union, please contact the credit union directly.

Travel Notifications

Travel can prompt false fraud alerts. It is recommended that you report any upcoming travel to the credit union at least a week in advance. Contact us to add your travel plans to our records.

Checking, Savings, or Other Account

To report fraud or initiate a dispute regarding your checking, savings, or other accounts, contact us.

Debit Cards

When disputing debit card transactions, attempt to resolve it with the merchant first. To report fraudulent activity on your debit card, call 866-596-3059 to report it. Our dispute team with Shazam will assist you and create a case.

Credit Cards

When disputing debit card transactions, attempt to resolve it with the merchant first. To report fraudulent activity on your credit card, call 800-234-5354 to report it. Our dispute team with card services will assist you and create a case.
